Korra's POV

For me everything just seemed to freeze. The different emotions I saw in Mako's eyes seemed to reach to my very core. I could tell by the dark circles that he had little to no sleep at all and that made me worry. Shouldn't he have been with his Girlfriend than worrying about me? I just stared at him not wanting to move. It felt like someone was painting a picture and if either one of us moved it would disturb the image. I snapped from my thoughts when Mako broke the silence.

"Hey"He said so softly I strained to hear him. It seemed like he was afraid I was just going to disappear or break if he spoke any louder.

"Hey to you too, City Boy. What are you doing here not looking like yourself?"were the words that slipped out before I could think over it. I just wanted to know why someone would go to worry about me especially the one person that was confused whether he loved me or Asami. Just thinking the name sent a small pain through me.

I watched Mako shake his head with a wicked smirk. I just realized he had my hand when I felt him squeeze before meeting my eyes.

"I was waiting for the girl I love to wake up from this nightmare"He said so easily I felt my heart skip a beat. My eyes went wide at the face of what he really just said.

"What about Asami?"I said pressing my lips tightly fearing that this might still be a dream and he was the nightmare.

"What about her. She was nice enough to understand my true feelings before I could"He said taking a deep breath while I just listened" I was so afraid of losing you, Korra. You been unresponsive for three FULL DAYS and I thought you weren't going to make it. Katara helped m---"

"Katara's here!"I said cutting him off nearly leaping out of the bed before he pressed me back down. Being who I was I tried to fight him back to let me up, but seeing the look in his eyes told me to stop and surprisingly I did.

"Calm down. You are in no condition to be jumping up like that. Katara is staying with Tenzin and them so they will be glad that your awake and much like yourself"Mako told me jokingly as I punched him in the arm.

"So what now?"I asked sitting up carefully just to show him I was being careful.

"I guess we get you dressed and out of here to see everyone. First I wanna do something though"He said standing up. I looked at him weirdly before I realized what he was doing. I felt his lips press against mine so soft and careful. The kiss made it feel like he was afraid he was going to break me. I knew that I had been attacked but I wasn't fragile. I put my arms to the side of his face and pulled him for a deeper kiss. I felt my oxygen supply start to cut off and had to break the kiss leaving us both smiling and breathless.

It didn't take long for me to get discharged and dressed to be wrapped in Mako's coat and scarf do to the new found snow on the ground and I didn't have a jacket. His arm was wrapped around my waste as we arrived to the ferry to take us to Air Temple Island. I realized he wasn't about to let me go anytime soon.

When we stood on the Island I was greeted fairly quickly by a very large Polar Bear Dog. I hugged Naga feeling like I hadn't seen her in ages. The dog licked both me and Mako and I laughed as Mako showed a disgusted look wiping off the slobber.

I dragged him to Tenzin's home to get him out of the cold and as I opened the door I felt something hit my legs. Looking down I saw Meelo with a huge grin on his face.

"Korra's Home!"He screamed clinging to my leg as I laughed trying to get him off and failing so I just dragged him as I entered the Living Room to be greeted by a bunch of smiling faces. First one to hug me was Tenzin who happened to be the closest. He was quickly followed by the others who quickly sat Mako and I down. They talked about how worried they had been and that they were glad I was better.

I told them all about my journey with Aang and how peaceful it had been. I told them how I had felt like staying but something kept dragging me back when Aang and I walked. I also mentioned how he missed them and that I had to go see Fire Lord Zuko who should currently be staying with his daughter before he started traveling again. I also told them what led up to the event of being attacked and no one said a thing. They knew I was going through a lot but they didn't even come close to how much. I felt Mako squeeze my hand as I sighed looking down at the ground. I felt better that I opened up to the people I considered my family. This was step two to getting closer to my spiritual side.

"After a few days of rest do you plan on starting your quest to the Fire Nation?"I heard Tenzin asked as I looked at the older man.

"It depends on how things hold up here. I don't want to abandon everyone here especially if they may think of me as weak..."I trailed off shaking my head. I hated the fact of being weak or even considered that. I am not weak just inexperienced on some subjects.

"This is important. When you are sent on a quest by a Former Self it is best to follow. By the sounds of it this quest is one to help you gain better strength"Katara told me with a kind smile before returning to her room to sleep. It was late and I leaned on Mako thinking.

"She is right"I huffed leaning forward looking at Tenzin. It was just Mako, Tenzin, Bolin, and I. Bolin had talked about everything I had missed and how bad Mako had been since he didn't eat or do nothing. Hearing that had earned him a scolding from me which he just blushed lightly and shook it off as nothing. The four of us just stayed up talking about what I was going to do and who was the one to go on the quest with me.

"I will be going"Mako said before anyone else could say a thing. The fire in his amber eyes told me that no one else was going to take his spot and I just smiled and knew I this was what Aang had meant by both. It only seemed fit to bring a Firebender to the Fire Nation especially to learn about his heredity. I kissed him not caring who saw and I heard a little "WOOP" from Bolin. After that all of us had headed to bed to get ready for the days to come. I laid down on Mako as his arms wrapped around me. None of us said a thing as he drifted to a wonderful dream fall from nightmares.
